Honda NC750X

The experts from Auto Trader Bikes have ridden hundreds of miles, testing every new bike on sale in the UK to pick these category winners and name the Best Bike of 2014.

The 2014 revisions to the Honda NC750X have made it the unequivocal benchmark for commuter bikes. The under-tank storage and scooter-like fuel economy always made it a practical and economic commuter, but the updated parallel twin engine and revised dual-clutch transmission mean the bike now even easier and more enjoyable to live with. For sensibly priced, sheer practicality, the NC750X is difficult to touch.

“You may not fall in love with the NC750X but you can’t not be anything but utterly impressed by it”

Runner-up: Piaggio MP3 Yourban

A safe, fuel efficient and hassle-free entry-point into riding, especially as the MP3 doesn’t require a bike license.

Runner-up: BMW C650 GT

A fine maxi-scooter that is capable of long commutes and even touring, with superb handling and an excellent engine. Let down by exorbitant pricing.
