Peugeot Django 50cc

The name and styling of the Peugeot Django may be rooted in the past, but this small scooter is set up for today’s urban jungle with decent storage, a lockable glovebox and a 12-volt socket to charge your smart phone on the go. Having a two-year unlimited mileage warranty gives buyers an extra bit of assurance, too.

“The engine may be learner-friendly but the styling of the Django 50cc is identical to its bigger 125cc and 150cc versions.”

Runner-up: Aprilia SR 50 R

Last year’s Best AM winner still has few rivals when it comes to sporty handling or a fizzy two-stroke engine, but it can’t match the Django for style, practicality or price.

Runner-up: Baotian Falcon R

The Chinese marque may still be an unfamiliar sight on UK roads, but the Falcon R is an interesting mix of (really) cheap and cheerful, albeit with a limited 12-month warranty.
