Best Bike Awards 2016
Best A2 Category
Honda CB500F

With A2 license laws restricting riders into motorcycles that produce less than 47bhp at source, manufacturers have been swift to respond with a series of new bikes this year. The Honda CB500F is one such motorcycle that has received a raft of improvements, turning a solid all-rounder into an excellent one. It maintains all the Honda values of easy ergonomics, great build quality and value for money, but now there’s enough charm and talent to keep you entertained long after you’ve served your time in the A2 category.

"When you’ve outgrown your CB125F and the time comes to step up into the A2 license, here is your answer. It’s a great platform to learn to ride more powerful sports bikes in the future."

Runner-up: Ducati Scrambler Sixty2

Offers all the style and gravitas of last year’s Bike of the Year, the Ducati Scrambler, but reduces the engine capacity by half to make it A2 friendly. A fun and accomplished motorcycle for urban riders, but a pricey option.

Runner-up: Yamaha MT-03

Popular naked version of the Yamaha R3, albeit with a more relaxed riding position. Engine and chassis are joyous, despite the humble performance.
